Point pengajaran:
We are face with temptation in our life, just like all others before us. Adam and Eve, Abraham and Isac, Job faced temptations. Some manage to defeat their temptation and some don’t.
Jesus start His ministry by fasting for 40 days and night. He was alone and hungry. Satan tempt Him in 3 ways:
1) to change stones to become bread
2) to jump down from the highest point of the temple
3) to bow before Satan.
In each temptation, Jesus resisted Satan by his actions, words, and inner desires, and was able to do so by using the Word of God- (Ephesians 6:10-17).
In the first temptation, Jesus teaches us to trust God for our daily needs; God is the one who promises to care for us, my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
In the second temptation, Jesus teaches us humility. The gifts God has given us are not to be used to show how great we are or what we’ve accomplished, but to show how great God is.
In the third temptation, Jesus teaches us that following him requires self-denial. If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it (Matthew 16:24-25).
