Summary:
Few hundred years before Jesus was born, God already told in His promise that the baby will be born in a city called Bethlehem. Mary actually stayed in Nazareth; but due to census, Mary who were heavily pregnant, must travel back to her hometown in Bethlehem.
As soon as Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem, they were looking for a room to rest; but they could not find any room left as there were many people also went back to Bethlehem. Because all rooms were occupied, they rested in a stable – where animals rest. In the stable, Mary gave birth to a baby boy, named Jesus, (as told by the angel) & she wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid Him in a manger.
In the night, near Bethlehem there were shepherds out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock. These shepherds knew about the promise of the Saviour’s birth that one day there will be a child born in Bethlehem and this child is the mighty God himself. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared to them and there were bright bright light shone around them. The angel of the Lord said “Fear not, for I bring good news for all the people : For unto you a saviour is born this day in Bethlehem”. Then, the angel asked the shepherds to find the baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger. After that, the shepherds saw a group of angels singing in the sky “Glory to God in the highest!”
After the angels left, then the shepherds hurriedly went to Bethlehem to find the promised baby. Soon they really found a baby lying in a manger wrapped in swaddling cloths. The shepherd told Mary and Joseph about the angel who appeared to them in the fields. Then, the shepherds returned to where they stayed and shared about what they had seen that the long promised Saviour has born in Bethlehem.
