Ringkasan:
Background of the Promised Messiah.
God created Adam and Eve . God made a covenant with Adam ( Genesis 2:17). but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat ,for in the day you eat of it you shall surely die.
Adam disobeyed and they died spiritually and the punishments of the their disobedience is eternal death.
God promised to man that He will send us a saviour . Genesis 3:15
I will put enmity between you and the woman ,and between your offspring and her offspring, he shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel.
God keep His promise even though Man lives in Sins.
Throughout history God reveal Himself many times to His chosen people. In the Old Testament God reveal to
1.Noah ( Genesis )
2.Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3)
– He will make Abraham a great nation
– He will make Abraham’s name great
– Abraham’s offspring will be a blessing to all the world.
3.Moses (Exodus 6:7)
– I will be your God and you shall know that I am the Lord your God , who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians .
God save Israelites from Egypt so they can worship God.just like us we are saved from sins through our faith in Jesus Christ our saviour so that we can worship God . the israelites used the blood of the sacrificial animal and painted them on the posts of the door so the angel of the death will pass over that house , those without the blood on the post of their door will have to experience death for their firstborn son . all these pointing to Jesus Christ ,He is the lamb of God who takes away the sins of this world.
4. David ( 2 Samuel 7:13b)
I will establish the throne of His Kingdom forever.
In the New Testament Matthew 1:1, The Genealogy of Jesus Christ .
– He is the son of David.
– He is the son of Abraham
Most of all, Jesus Christ is the Son of God . Luke 1:32, Matthew 1:23.
God is faithful to His Promised.
God again promised to His Chosen people that He will send us a Saviour.
Read Luke 2:8-21.
The Shepherds , they are the marginalised group of people who are the poorest in society, but not to God ,they are the first group of people to know the good news, that Jesus Christ is born in Bethlehem. They were afraid at first but they rejoice and hurrily went to find Mary and Joseph and the baby lying in a manger. many Christmas cards show the scene of Jesus Christ lying in the manger ,looks very peaceful with the lights surrounded by angels , but we have to remember it is a manger where animals live , it is very dirty and smelly. God loves us so that He is willing to incarnate into a baby , limit himself to be borned in such place so that we may have eternal life.
what is the responses of the Shepherds?
They rejoice and excited and tell people about the good news.
There are people who are closed to God who is filled with the Holy Spirit . God also reveal himself to these people. They are Simeon and Anna. God promised to Simeon that he will see the Saviour before he died. Simeon met Jesus Christ at the temple.
And after they had performed everything according
to the Law of Lord they returned into Galilee, to their home town of Nazareth.
Lesson to be learnt: God is faithful, God reveal Himself to whoever he wants to reveal. There are People in the OT also in NT. now God reveal Himself through the Bible. it is written in the bible all that we need to know about the Birth and the life of our Lord Jesus Christ. Do we rejoice after we heard about the good news? Do we tell about Christ to other people?
we have listened to the word of God many years and are born in Christian families . Are we saved?
Romans 10:9-10
-Because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
-For with the heart one believes and is justified and with the mouth one confess and is saved.
Ayat Hafalan:
1John 4:14b
And we have beheld and bear witness that the Father has sent the Son to be the Saviour of the World.
