Ringkasan:
Of all the sinful acts forbidden in the Ten Commandments, murder and adultery most directly attack the dignity of a human being. These sins attack and destroy humans as the image of God.
We know that murder is very scary and evil, because it kills human being. Adultery is also very ugly and shameful, because this sin does not respect humans, and makes humans think and do shameful things. An adulterer lowered down his dignity as a human being, into the same level as a beast or animal, who does not have self-control.
When we are obeying God’s law, we are not just thinking about what we can and can not do. It is not just about obeying the rules. We should do it from the heart. In everything we think, we feel and we want, all have to bring glory to God, to love God and to love others.
In obeying God’s command: “do not commit adultery”, we are not just talking about what we should and should not do, but also about loving God and loving others.
Ayat Hafalan:
Exodus 20:14
You shall not commit adultery
