Ringkasan:
Knowing that Jesus would soon be crucified, Jesus told his disciples that He was going to his Father’s house to prepare a place for His disciples. He promised to return someday so they could be with Him forever.
Only Jesus can take His people to heaven. His well-known words, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6), are a clear declaration that Christ is the only way of salvation.
Human attempts to devise other ways are not only futile but are evidence of mankind’s continuing rebellion against God. Instead of listening and following what God says in the Bible, sinful people arrogantly choose their own way, the way of death (Proverbs 14:12).
Understanding that His disciples would grieve for Him, Jesus assured them it was for their good that He was going away, because he would send the Holy Spirit to comfort and teach them, reminding them of everything He had said (John 14:27).
The Holy Spirit fulfilled that promise by guiding the apostles as they preached the gospel and wrote the New Testament. He faithfully continues to preserve the Bible, applying it to convert and guide God’s people and to expose the guilt of the wicked for their unbelief and unrighteousness (John 16:8). While Jesus prepares a place in heaven for His people, the Holy Spirit is at work on earth preparing God’s people for their homecoming.
Though the Bible does not provide many details about heaven, it does tell us it is more wonderful than anything we have ever seen or heard or can even imagine (1 Corinthians 2:9).
Ayat Hafalan:
1 Corinthians 2:9
But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”.
